It all begins with an idea.

“Bored?” is an app concept imagined by an aspiring traveler.

Travelling has become more and more popular over the past 70 years. In 1950, there were 25 million international tourist arrivals, and in 2018, the number has increased to a staggering 1.4 billion international tourist arrivals. From travel agents to travel blogs and websites, there are millions of recommendations for every destination around the world.

However, with so many recommendations, it is not a one-size-fits-all. Every traveler has their own preferences of what they want to do and how much they want to spend. With so many recommendations, planning out a trip can be stressful.

The “Bored?” app concept is built on two goals: provide instant recommendations for the people who want to do something spontaneous in their own city and encourage people to travel locally and globally.

The “Bored?” app most importantly uses 3 core questions to learn more about what the user wants to do:

“Where are you?”, “What do you want to do?”, and “How much money do you want to spend?”.

 I have some questions.

How does the “Bored?” app set apart from the existing competition?

Sites like TripAdvisor and Yelp, have a categorized list of each individual location labeling them with a tag such as Museum, Parks, Attractions, etc. However, users still have to view hundreds of locations to find an attraction or an activity that they find interest in.

The Bored? app aims to personalize traveling experiences by asking questions, prompting the user to engage in a two way conversation making it similar to talking with a travel agent.

Once the questions are answered, location tiles with small bites of information based on true answers will be presented. Like it? Swipe right, and we’ll save it to a list. Not your thing? Swipe left. (Just in case you want a second look, it’ll be saved into a separate list). Want to go there now? We’ll send you the destination through maps.

Lastly, Bored? will be the first app of its kind to use machine learning to learn more about the user’s tastes and preferences when travelling abroad and provide personalized results for a more enjoyable adventure.

But what about the reviews, how do I know that the place I’m going to is worthy of my time?

Not to worry, the “Bored?” app is built around Google API where existing ratings will be available to view within each location tab. Tapping on the review will redirect the user to the ratings.

How will Bored? Inc. generate revenue? Does it include selling my data?

Bored? Inc. will generate revenue by providing local businesses to be able to promote their establishment onto our user’s personalized list. Bored? Inc. will also generate revenue by releasing paid features in the “Bored?” app that has yet to be determined, but is guaranteed in the foreseeable future.

At Bored? Inc. we value your privacy, and be rest assured that your data will only be in our highly encrypted servers and in your app. Your data however, will be used within our data infrastructure to recommend you the best locations.

As always, your data may always be deleted easily from our app. However, you will potentially lose a personalized list of locations that match best with your preferences.
